All it took was a few bars of an old Heatwave song, and Clay Aiken was on his way.
American Idol viewers in January 2003 were taken by surprise when an unknown singer strode confidently into the audition room, announced to the judges that he was their choice, and backed up that claim with an electrifying rendition of “Always and Forever” that instantly caught the attention of millions watching at home. Many of them — like judge Randy Jackson — must have wondered, “Where is that voice coming from?” Well, Clay knew…and he’s never looked back. (click to read more, and scroll down)

Clay was sooooooooo prophetic during his audition when he said: ‘I could be up there, number one, one or two.’ (And Simon replied: ‘Really??’–yeah, Simon, and you KNEW IT, TOO!!) AND HE WAS NUMBER ONE…REALLY HE WAS…THE (REAL) WINNER OF AI2.

Very nice article – I don’t live anywhere near Chicago, so I sure hope PBS airs this special in my part of the country. I’m down in northwest Arkansas, and we like good music too!
Great article! Can’t wait for the PBS airing.
WILL THE SHOW OF CLAY BE AIRED IN CANADA? (PBS CHICAGO STATION) I WILL SEE HIM IN WINDSOR ON AUG. 5TH, CAN’T TO SEE HIM. I CAN’T FIND ANY T&T DELUXE EDITION HERE IN CANADA.
I am delighted that Clay will be airing a PBS Special of his own, which will bring to the world the gift of his talent and charm. His CD, Tried & True, is pure silk and honey to my ears. I can’t wait to see this Special, with Clay performing these songs that he has claimed for his own.
